Maryland State Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp announced today her plans to resign by the end of this year. Treasurer Kopp is the second longest serving Maryland State Treasurer and the second woman to serve in this role.

From an announcement to Senators and Delegates,

For the past 50 years, I have had the great honor of serving the people of Maryland – both in the Maryland House of Delegates and as Treasurer of the State. I cannot tell you how much I have appreciated the support and friendship you and your predecessors have provided during my time in the legislature and as Treasurer, and so it is important that you hear directly from me of my decision to step down after 20 years in this great office.

More details can be found in the State Treasurer’s Press Release.

Prior to her election as State Treasurer, Nancy Kopp served in the House of Delegates for 27 years where she served on the House Appropriations Committee.
