Governor Hogan earlier today announced the appointment of Linda K. Foley to the House of Delegates. Ms. Foley was nominated by the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee and will represent Legislative District 15. Ms. Foley’s appointment fills the vacancy left after Governor Hogan appointed Delegate Kathleen Dumais as a Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge in November.
According to a press release from Governor Hogan,
Foley is the current chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee. She is a former journalist, who founded and served over 20 years as the president of Berger-Marks Foundation, a nonprofit that promoted young women as union leaders and social justice activists. She also previously served as the national president of The Newspaper Guild chapter of the Communications Workers of America, and consulted for the National Labor Coordinating Committee. She holds a degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
The press release from the Governor’s office includes a quote from him regarding Ms. Foley:
“I am confident that Ms. Foley will represent the citizens of Montgomery County admirably in her new role as delegate,” said Governor Hogan. “I offer her my sincere congratulations and look forward to working with her and the General Assembly in the new year.”
