The Washington County Republican Central Committee nominated Del. Paul Corderman, R-Washington, to replace former Sen. Andrew Serafini in Maryland Senate District 2.

According to the Herald Mail,

Corderman and Del. William Wivell, R-Washington, had applied for the nomination. Corderman’s name will now be forwarded to Gov. Larry Hogan, who will make the appointment.

Assuming Hogan appoints Corderman, the committee will have to nominate someone to fill Corderman’s seat in the House of Delegates. DeWolf said the application process for the vacant House seat will be announced soon.
Former Senator Serafini last his resignation last month effective August 1.
Delegate Corderman was first appointed to the House of Delegates to complete the term of former Del. Brett Wilson, who resigned when he was appointed to the Washington County Circuit Court. Delegate Corderman was then elected to the seat in 2018.
