Should the results of Tuesday’s election hold, the Senate will be welcoming 17 new members in January. Eleven Senators-elect are former Delegates, 9 of whom currently serve in the House of Delegates.

Manis Canning & Associates has created a Senate Chart summarizing the Senate member changes by district and the new Senators (including who they replaced or defeated) are listed below. Last term, Democrats held a 33-14 margin.  In the new Senate, Democrats will hold a 32-15 margin.

District 9 (Carroll and Howard): Katie Fry Hester leads incumbent Senator Gail Bates by 154 votes. Outcome may be affected by absentee ballots.

District 12 (Baltimore and Howard): Delegate Clarence Lam will replace retiring Senator Ed Kasemeyer

District 18 (Montgomery): Delegate Jeff Waldstreicher will fill the seat vacated by Senator Rich Madaleno, who lost in the Democratic Gubernatorial Primary.

District 19 (Montgomery): Delegate Ben Kramer will fill the seat vacated by Senator Roger Manno, who lost in the Democratic Congressional Primary.

District 25 (Prince George’s): Former Delegate Melony Griffith will replace retiring Senator Uly Currie.

District 26 (Prince George’s): County Councilman and former Delegate Obie Patterson will fill the seat vacated by Senator Anthony Muse, who lost in his primary run for County Executive.

District 28 ( Charles): Arthur Ellis will replace Senator Mac Middleton, who he defeated in the primary election.

District 29 (Calvert and St. Mary’s): Jack Bailey will replace Senator Steve Waugh, who he defeated in the primary election.

District 30 (Anne Arundel): Sarah Elfreth will replace retiring Senator John Astle.

District 32 (Anne Arundel): Delegate Pam Beidle will replace retiring Senator Ed DeGrange.

District 34 (Harford and Cecil): Jason Gallion will replace Senator Linda Norman, who was appointed to fill the seat after her husband Senator Wayne Norman passed away.

District 38 (Somerset, Worcester, Wicomico): Delegate Mary Beth Carozza defeated Senator Jim Mathias for the seat.

District 40 (Baltimore City): Delegate Antonio Hayes will replace Senator Barbara Robinson, who he defeated in the primary election.

District 42 (Baltimore): Delegate Chris West will replace Senator Jim Brochin, who lost in the primary for Baltimore County Executive.

District 43 (Baltimore City): Delegate Mary Washington will replace Senator Joan Carter Conway, who she defeated in the primary election.

District 45 (Baltimore City): Delegate Cory McCray will replace Senator Nathaniel McFadden, who he defeated in the primary election.

District 47 (Prince George’s): Malcolm Augustine will replace Senator Victor Ramirez, who lost in his primary run for Prince George’s State’s Attorney.
