Governor Hogan has announced actions taken on legislation passed during the 2020 legislative session. As he mentioned during a press conference in April, he has vetoed legislation that would increase spending and impose higher taxes and fees. In addition to numerous bills listed in the veto letters (increased spending veto letter and taxes and fees veto letter), legislation vetoed includes:
- HB 1260 – Historically Black Colleges and Universities – Funding
- HB 1300 – Blueprint for Maryland’s Future – Implementation (Kirwan legislation)
- HB 732 – Taxation – Tobacco Tax, Sales and Use Tax, and Digital Advertising Gross Revenues Tax
- HB 932 – 21st-Century Economy Fairness Act
The Governor also vetoed several bills which were viewed as failing to address violent crime and other policy matters.
Other bills will become law without his signature.
