2024 is off to a great start for Baltimore City’s newest neighborhood Baltimore Peninsula! Recent reporting and commentary in local and national newspapers showcase the neighborhood’s latest developments and uplift the City as a whole. Below you’ll find a few snapshots hot of the press:

An article in The Baltimore Sun: covered the renaming of a public park at Baltimore Peninsula in honor of the late U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings.

“The Baltimore Peninsula development team decided to rename Triangle Park after Cummings because of his advocacy for childrenʼs education and health care.

“Elijahʼs Park is a living memorial and a beautiful tribute to my fatherʼs legacy,” Jennifer Cummings, the congressmanʼs eldest daughter, said in a news release. “My Dad would often say of his work, ʻthis is bigger than me,ʼ and this park is exactly that, a large public greenspace for the community to make productive use of and enjoy.”

The Baltimore Sun also featured guest commentary by Maryann Gilmartin, founder and chief executive officer of MAG Partners, the leader of Baltimore Peninsula’s development team. Gilmartin’s remarks focus on the City’s economic growth and attracting new businesses, tenants, and developments to the area.

“Last year, the cityʼs economy grew to more than $50 billion. With nearly 6% growth, Baltimore beat out nearly every other similarly sized major city nationwide. Citywide, weʼre seeing robust, rapid economic growth and a low unemployment rate of just 4.3%. Coupled with inspiring progress on the tragic homicide crisis, Baltimore is signaling that itʼs on the brink of real change.”

“And at Baltimore Peninsula, we closed the year by announcing 15 new office and retail leases totaling over 65,000 square feet, building on CFG Bankʼs historic flagship lease signed to support its expansion last year. Theyʼll be right across from the new Under Armour HQ, and when that campus opens later this year, it will be a milestone that all of Baltimore should celebrate.”

Last but not least, Baltimore City placed in the top 15 on The New York Times’ list of “52 Places to Go This Year.” In addition to the City’s charm, art scene, museums, and waterfronts, the post highlights that the “…Baltimore Peninsula, a place for visitors and locals to shop, dine and play, will breathe new life into a long-neglected port area.”
