Junior Achievement of Central Maryland held its annual “JA Inspire” event on October 18, 2018 at Timonium, Maryland Fairgrounds bringing together more than 3,000 Baltimore County middle school students to explore Maryland’s in-demand careers. JA President, Jennifer Bodensiek, was joined by Secretary Kelly Schulz, Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, and Vice Chancellor for Economic Development Tom Sadowski, University System of Maryland, to bring welcoming remarks to more than 30 employers participating in the event. Vice Chancellor Sadowski also serves as Chair of JA’s Board of Directors.
JA Inspire is an interactive career exploration program that introduces students to various career fields in multiple industries, such as business, IT, healthcare services, and others. Through JA Inspire, students connect with professionals from some of the region’s most prominent employers, explore career pathways through interactive activities, and learn about the skills needed for in-demand jobs. Students have the opportunity to interact with representatives from local companies and see the connection between careers and middle and high school class choices.
