Samira Jackson, University of Maryland alumna and a rising star attorney, has joined Manis Canning & Associates (MCA). She joins a team at MCA that has more than 100 years of experience working with legislatures, executives, and regulators in local, state and federal governments.

After years in private practice in family law and professional sports contract negotiation, Samira made history when she and her mother Edy Lawson-Jackson became the first mother-daughter duo to become NFL certified agents. In her role, Samira provided comprehensive guidance to her clients, including contract negotiations, endorsement deals, legal counsel and post-career planning, gaining a reputation as an effective steward of her clients’ interests.

In a Baltimore Sun profile, Samira’s mentors and colleagues praised her intellect and work ethic, sharing, “Anything that Samira puts her mind and heart to, it’s a matter of when, not if.” She joins Manis Canning & Associates poised to put her wealth of experience to work.

“Samira shares our high standards for credibility, integrity, and teamwork, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Manis Canning. For over 50 years, Manis Canning has led the way in Annapolis, and we know Samira will be an invaluable addition to our team,” said Nick Manis, Managing Partner at MCA.

Outside of her professional life, Samira mentors young women considering legal careers in Maryland volunteering with the Montgomery County Women’s Bar Association.  She is also a volunteer pro-bono attorney with Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County.

Samira is a graduate of The University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned a B.A. in Communication. She received her J.D. with a certificate in Intellectual Property from St. Thomas University’s Benjamin L. Crump School of Law in Miami Gardens, Florida. She is a member of the Maryland Bar.
