Senator Ed Kasemeyer recently announced he plans to retire at the end of this term.

Senator Kasemeyer, who has served as Chair of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee since 2011, started his time in the Senate in 1995. He previously served a term in the Senate and some time in the House of Delegates. He represents District 12, which includes parts of Baltimore and Howard Counties. A few days after the Senator’s announcement, Delegate Clarence Lam announced he plans to run for the Senate seat soon to be vacated. This decision was made in collaboration with his District 12 colleagues. More details are in the Baltimore Sun.
