This week, T-Mobile announced the official launch of Project 10Million, a $10.7 billion initiative to
help close the homework gap and connect those who need it most.

Details can be found in the press release.

Through partnerships with school districts across the country, Project 10Million will deliver internet connectivity to millions of underserved student households at no cost, free wireless hotspots, free high-speed data, and access to at-cost laptops and tablets, all of which is valued at approximately $500 per household.

COVID-19 has made the digital divide starker than ever before. At T-Mobile, we know that the shift to online this new school year is creating massive pain points for educators and students alike. Since March 2020, we’ve worked to connect 1.6 million students with free or highly subsidized service across more than 3,100 school districts as classrooms moved online. As remote learning becomes the norm, what was once the homework gap has become the schoolwork gap, hitting millions of students without access to connectivity.

In response, T-Mobile has expanded on Project 10Million’s initial commitments to offer more low-cost data options, including unlimited data, for school districts to pass on to student households at no cost to them.

This endeavor would not be possible without the depth and reach of T-Mobile’s nationwide network. Our dependable, high-capacity service ensures T-Mobile and Project 10Million can deliver reliable connectivity for millions of families across the U.S. At T-Mobile, we are committed to using our tremendous capacity for good.
