As a follow up to our posting on April 2nd, G. Nick Manis and his two friends, Jeff Begin and L.J. Urie, completed their run of 100 miles in honor of Brian Adam or “Big B”. The trio ran 100 miles each across Maryland’s Eastern Shore, raising funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the leading organization working toward a cure for Parkinson’s.
They started their journey on April 11, 2025, World Parkinson’s Day at 12:00 pm from a friend’s farm in Centerville, Maryland under a steady rain and temperatures hovering in the low 40’s. The bad weather continued throughout the day, worsening in the early evening and throughout Saturday morning with torrential rains, temperatures in the 30’s, and winds gusting to 25-30 mph. To run a mile in the conditions they encountered would be difficult enough, to run 100 miles is beyond belief.
While you were sleeping, they were running. It was truly remarkable! Their passion, desire, commitment, and determination to never give up, even in the face of some of the worst conditions imaginable, is simply awe-inspiring. They should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished and the funds they raised to fight the devastating disease of Parkinson’s. “Big B”, your family and friends are all so PROUD OF YOU.
To G. Nick Manis, Jeff Begin, and L.J. Urie- words cannot express how proud we all are and what you accomplished. Congratulations and you three redefined the meaning of FINISH STRONG!!
